I've had a ton of baby showers lately, which means lots of crafting. Recently I went to a shower for friend who is having her fourth child and only girl. I knew I had to do something really girly for her and I was tired of all the knitting/crocheting at the time, so I found this pattern and went to town.
I found some nice pink and turquoise fabric in my stash so all I had to get was elastic and notions.
I picked out some cute princess buttons and ribbon to put on the one pair, and the other pair I just left plain. The pattern says it fits size 6-9 months and I think they would be good for keeping socks on. This little girl will be 6-9 months in the fall time so these should work well.
You could also make them with leather (maybe recycled) and larger so they would be walking shoes for an older baby.

Wow, these are really cute and so useful! I am so proud of what you are doing. Very resourceful, especially in these economic times. I can only hope that the recipients are grateful for the time and work that you put into making gifts for them.
