Day 5

Today is day 5 of being processed sugar free. The last two days have been a little harder than the first three were. Not sure why, except that maybe my system is detoxing a little. I've heard it's called a healing crisis. I swear I am crabbier than normal. The hardest part is after dinner when I'm washing up as Curt gives the boys a bath. I used to just eat a bite of this and a bite of that as I cleaned up the kitchen. Now I take mini breaks in washing up to gaze yearningly at the cupboards which are bare of sweets.

Food has been on my mind. I need new ideas for processed sugar free snacks for me and the kids. I feel like I feed the boys the same things over and over. It's not that they complain, but I'd like to get out of the rut. It seems this is cyclical, this food rut. Every couple of months I feel so bored with food and find myself hungrily staring into the pantry and fridge, unsatisfied. Now that Curt is on board with some changes this year I'd really like to experiment more.

I am thinking of ordering 5 lbs of almond flour so I can try some sugar free baking. I'll let you know how it goes. Until then, feel free to spam me with snack and meal ideas.

does agave nectar count as processed sugar? it was an ingredient in a raw vegan cheesecake i made over the summer and took the place of sugar.

No agave nectar isn't processed, I don't think. It's a safe choice in my book, but I haven't experimented with it much at all.

Want to share that recipe Heat?
